Shop Mobility

For the benefit of people with a mobility impairment, Durham has a well equipped Shop Mobility Office with Scooters and Wheel Chairs. Disabled parking is available immediately outside. It is advisable to telephone to book a scooter Tel:- 0191 386 8556 Opem 9:30 to 5:00 Tuesdays to Saturdays website www.durhammobility.co.uk
An example of a well organized shop in Silver street. The doors are wide and access is via a ramp rather than a step. There is a catalogue holder just in the doorway, but this is very well out of the way. Next to it is a bowl of water for dogs accompanying the shopper. Internally the isles are reasonably wide allowing access. This shop is also in the middle of Durham and has the advantage of being in a new precinct. The entrance is wide and flat, but then as soon as a customer is past the entrance they are confronted by cluttered narrowed isles.
